FIELD: electrooptic displays. SUBSTANCE: on the first substrate there are mounted the first and the second systems of electrodes and the system of insulated gate-interdigitated electrodes. The second system is formed by line-type electrodes. One of the electrodes of the interdigitated electrode pair is formed by electrodes as stripes having ridges orthogonal to line electrodes. The second electrodes of the pair are designed as single electrodes inside the regions formed by the ridges, with single electrodes being orthogonal to line electrodes and electrically-contacted with them through the windows of the second insulating layer. On the second substrate there are mounted the third electrode system and the third insulating layer. Liquid-crystal layer is disposed between the third insulating layer and the interdigitated electrode system. Electric field to be varied by magnitude and direction for controlling each element of image transducer is produced by action of two orthogonally-directed homogeneous E-fields, successively or simultaneously, which are generated independently inside each element. EFFECT: increased quality factor. 2 cl, 4 dwg
