FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: esophagus is cut obliquely to its axis. The musculus trapezius is disclosed throughout its extent in the region. Stitches are put in by passing the thread through the lateral surface of the musculus trapezius and by piercing and holding its medial surface and the muscular layer of the esophageal wall. The esophageal mucous membrane is sutured to the skin of the anterior surface of the neck at the cricoid cartilage level. The esophagostoma is formed in the neck from a short esophageal stump.
