FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: lock nut has body 1 with tapped hole 5. One end of body has rigid section 3 and other end has deformable part 4 which has essentially elliptical cross section and maximum radial section in zone of smaller axis of ellipse. This fact ensures required degree of locking the lock nut by friction after screwing it on the bolt. Deformable part has minimum radial thickness in zone larger axis of ellipse which makes it possible to reduce stress and plastic deformation which impair reuse of lock nut.
