FIELD: medicine; medical engineering. SUBSTANCE: device has primary leads each having an electrode placed on working end of catheter. Separation state is supported between the primary leads so that each primary lead individually receives power of selected polarity. The primary leads are designed so that they unfold in outward direction for positioning electrodes in engagement with hollow anatomical structure. To heat surrounding tissues of the anatomical structure, high frequency power is supplied via the leads. Hollow anatomical structure diameter becomes smaller when heated and primary leads electrodes come closer to each other. The hollow anatomical structure being vein, the power is supplied until vein diameter reduces to a value causing vein occlusion. One embodiment involves inflating balloon before supplying power to cause occlusion. The hollow anatomical structure being vein, the inflated balloon stops blood circulation and facilitates salt solution, drug or liquid having high impedance supply into the vein to reduce coagulation and improve vein heating with catheter. The catheter has cavity for passing wire guide or for supplying liquid. EFFECT: enhanced effectiveness of surgical intervention in ligating veins. 86 cl, 22 dwg
