FIELD: mechanical engineering; drives. SUBSTANCE: clamping device for chain or belt drive has damping piston installed in cylindrical housing and loaded by compression spring in direction of chain tensioning. Placed between bottom of housing and damping piston is high-pressure chamber for working liquid. The latter is closed by check valve relative to auxiliary oil chamber and is open through leakage slot formed by guide hole of housing and damping piston. In operation, liquid pressure in high pressure chamber is greater in cold state than in heated state owing to differences in viscosity. High pressure chamber is limited by additional piston acting as excess pressure piston. Additional piston moves to increase volume of high pressure chamber only when viscosity of oil at temperature lower than operating temperature exceeds preset limiting value.
