FIELD: chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: to synthesize 1,2-dichloroethane process is carried out at the molar ratio ethylene:chlorine = 0.995:1.0-1.005: 1.0, at the rate of chlorine feeding to reactor containing 5-10 vol.% oxygen 300-900m3/h, and ethylene rate feeding 268-860m3h in the presence of 0.005-0.5 wt.-% ferric (III) chloride at 84-102 C under pressure 1,0·105-1,8·105 Pa. Abgases from the stage of 1,2-dichloroethane isolation by condensation are passed at 40-80 C through the aqueous 1-5 wt.-% solution of ferrous (II) chloride which is prepared preliminary by dissolving of ferrous (II) carbonate with aqueous solution of hydrochloric acid formed at absorption of hydrogen chloride from the purification stage of raw 1,2-dichloroethane. 1,2-Dichloroethane is used as a solvent.
