FIELD: petrochemistry. SUBSTANCE: sulfurous petroleum products are contacted with a hydrogen-containing gas and a catalyst. The resultant hydrogen sulfide is directed to the decomposition stage to obtain hydrogen, sulfur and unconverted hydrogen sulfide. Hydrogen is mixed with the starting material and the unconverted hydrogen is directed to the decomposition stage. EFFECT: improved properties of the petroleum products. 2 tbl
