FIELD: maintenance of permanent way. SUBSTANCE: ballast cleaner has frame 1, cleaning member formed by flexible band 2 with cells, power members 4 on which different length posts 5 and 6 are secured. Posts mount pressure rollers 7 and deflecting rollers 8. Ballast cleaner has also conveyor 12 to bring out litter and dirt arranged under cleaning member and conveyor 14 to deliver cleaned broken stone to track bed. Device has also two chains placed at both sides of band 2 and connected with band. Ends of chains are hinge-connected on frame 1. Rollers 8 are installed for engagement with lower surfaces of band 2 and chains, and rollers 7 are installed for engagement with chain upper surfaces. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency owing to decrease in power consumption and enhanced reliability. 2 cl, 6 dwg
