DEVICE FOR EXTRACTING BALLAST FROM RAILWAY TRACK Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: railway track maintenance machinery. SUBSTANCE: device has railway flat-car and mounted on it is slewing circle. Installed on slewing circle is frame which is rotatable by drive unit around horizontal axis. Frame is provided with longitudinal guide members and installed on them is carriage displaceable by power drive unit. Installed on carriage is another slewing circle with bucket rotor mounted on it. Installed on railway flat-car are two cutting arms located at both sides relative to longitudinal plane of symmetry of device and at both sides of bucket rotor along device. Mounted on flat-car is at least one conveyor for transfer of ballast which is cut out by rotor. Extraction of ballast at both sides of railway track at side of sleeper ends is effected by single rotor which is installed at either side of device at incline to horizon.
