FIELD: active radiolocation. SUBSTANCE: interrogation pulses are radiated through a summary directional pattern of the antenna, the relation of suppression pulse amplitude to interrogation pulse amplitude is measured and a reply signal is radiated if that relation does not exceed the preset value. Then the power of interrogation pulses radiated through the summary directional pattern of the antenna is reduced in proportion to the square of the relation of the maximum range of the interrogator action, to the range of a particular interrogated target, the maximum power of the suppression pulse radiated through the differential summary directional pattern of the antenna being preserved. The device designed to realize the given method has an antenna with summary-differential directional pattern, antenna switch, controlled power amplifier, generator, modulator, switch, and a unit generating the switch control signals. EFFECT: more efficient interrogation-reply process. 2 cl, 3 dwg
