FIELD: monitoring power equipment at hauling stations of electrified railways. SUBSTANCE: switch intercontact arc detector output recording, measuring and normalization of time spaces characterizing switch operating conditions, comparison of measured and normalized spaces, indication of comparison results, determining operating conditions as a result of this indication, determining the moment of emergency current start in the circuit of switch under control, measuring the mentioned spaces relating to this time moment, DC switchgear de-energizing in a preset time interval at any switch failure, indication of coincidence or non-coincidence in switch failure and arc origination on its contacts, obtaining more accurate diagnosis on the results of this indication. The device comprises detectors for arc initiation at switch contacts, unit to measure time intervals, two indication units, feeder input voltage detector, detectors for current start and finish in the circuit of the switch under control, two logical AND members.
