FIELD: technical state diagnostics for transport vehicles. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of performing several cycles of braking; at each cycle performing braking with the sane value of driving effort for all cycles in the braking system and with fixed speed value of braking process starting, whose value is to be changed for each successive cycle; measuring parameters, characterizing efficiency of the braking process and according to values of these parameters setting an optimal value of braking process starting continuously measuring at each braking cycle wheel deceleration, serving as a parameter, characterizing an efficiency of the braking process; measuring rotation angles, corresponding to each value of deceleration speed for the wheel to be decelerated and fixing a time moment of achieving a stable value of the deceleration; determining a speed value, at which the wheel upon the braking process performs no less, than one revolution over the stable deceleration period, as an optimal speed value of the braking process starting.
