SUBSTANCE: method of magnetic compensation involves passing a current through a sensitive member, placing measuring contacts on the sensitive member and relative orientation of the sensitive member and magnetic field such that an additional voltage occurring across the measuring contacts in magnetic field owing to magnetic resistance is compensated for by Hall-effect voltage occurring across the same contacts.
