FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: liquid carbon containing sulfurorganic compounds is treated by an aqueous solution of chloride of univalent cation in turbulent conditions on exposure to an electric field. Treatment is conducted in a tubular continuous reactor made of non-conducting material or having an internal non-conducting coating. Located inside the reactor along its axis, coaxially, with the vertexes facing each other are truncated cone-shaped branch-pipes connected by a coupling made of dielectric material. One of the branch-pipes intended for inlet of the aqueous solution of univalent cation has a branch-pipe of smaller diameter inside it, made of corrosion-resistant material and intended for inlet of liquid hydrocarbon. The truncated cone-shaped branch-pipes serve at the same time as electrodes, the external space between which and reactor is filled with dielectric. Preferably used as aqueous solution of chloride of univalent cation is aqueous solution of sodium, potassium, lithium or ammonium chloride, or their mixture in a concentration of 0.1 to 2.0 percent by mass in a mass relation to liquid hydrogen equal to 1-50.
