FIELD: powder metallurgy, production of composite materials by self- propagating high-temperature synthesis. SUBSTANCE: carbon black substitutes manganese in blend to produce diamond- bearing material, containing additionally powders of titanium hydride, aluminium, manganese, titanium and copper. Substitution of manganese powder for carbon black powder accounted for 3.6 - 13.3 per cent by weight in the mixture of titanium hydride, aluminium, titanium and copper allows one to increase exothermic nature of the blend ensure synthesis of diamond-bearing material in the mode of self- propagating high-temperature synthesis. Titanium carbide is generated in the synthesis of the above material in the mode of self-propagating high-temperature synthesis. Improved resistant to wear for the material produced is a result of the process. Carbon black introduction results in decreasing amount of liquid phase when synthesis, and hence, in better compacting nature of synthesis products, and in decreased porosity of final product. EFFECT: resistant to wear increased by 1.2 - 2.8 per cent, and porosity decreased by 0.8 - 3.1 per cent. 2 tbl
