FIELD: mining. SUBSTANCE: method for interaction of support unit with side rocks includes relieving hydraulic props from anchoring forces, advancing and subsequent anchoring. When mode of rock occurrence changes anchoring is relieved from hydraulic props, and roofing inclination angle relative to base is changed depending on interaction with roof and preset inclination is fixed, if need be, or inclination of guard upper part is changed relative to the lower part of guard with its fixing. Both may be changed simultaneously. Then, support unit is installed in one of extreme positions, props are anchored and roof is supported by means of canopy with roofing or by canopy.
