FIELD: refractory materials. SUBSTANCE: method involves pressing of silicon nitride powder, impregnation of pressed material with oxides activating caking and caking in nitrogen atmosphere. Blank is placed over the layer of alumino-containing exothermic mixture, mixture is fired, and impregnation is carried out by aluminium oxide condensation products (from gaseous products forming at firing) in press material pores. Density of article prepared from silicon nitride is 2,47-2,49 g/cm3 after caking, firing shrinkage is 22.5-22.9%. EFFECT: enhanced quality of caked articles. 1 tbl
