FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: chain variator has driving and driven shafts, pair of conical gearings mounted on each shaft for forced axial movement, and gear chain with side teeth engaging with teeth of the gearings. Each tooth of the conical gearing is mounted for reciprocation and spring-loaded to it. The teeth of the chain has two curvatures and fixed to the chain links. The teeth of the gearings of each pair are shifted in the periphery direction with respect to each other. EFFECT: enhanced reliability. 3 dwg
