FIELD: agricultural production. SUBSTANCE: method for turning strips of stalks of high-stalk cultures involves lifting the stalks from spread-out strips, carrying and turning the stalks through 180 deg and placing them with upper end down. Stalks are turned concurrently with their alignment. A pickup-turner comprises picking drum 2 installed on frame 1, turning device 6, and spreading device. The latter is made of two conveyors 8 and 9 arranged successively across the machine. Besides, rear conveyor 9 of the spreading device is set at a smaller angle to horizontal than is the front one.
