FIELD: railway transport. SUBSTANCE: car retarder has braking beams mounted at both sides of running rail 5 on levers 2 and connected in middle parts by cross tie rods 3 and spring-loaded relative to each other. Car retarder has also detachable fastener with gaskets 6 provided with vertical ribs 7 at bottom with bolts 8 for hinge connection of lower arms of vertical levers 2. Detachable fastener has vertical posts 9 at top. Posts 9 are secured over longitudinal axis and detachable fasteners proper are displaced from longitudinal axis of gaskets 6. Cross tie rods 3 are passed through web of running rail 5 and through holes in vertical posts 9 and in middle parts of vertical levers 2, and springs 4 are arranged on cross tie rods 3 at side of vertical levers 2.
