FIELD: water treatment. SUBSTANCE: source water vapors are intensively evacuated until source water temperature is set between 0 and 1.9 C; then source water is allowed to slowly boil by adjusting evacuation speed and this temperature is stabilized; then water is evaporated again and evacuated water vapors are frozen; this process is carried out until source water volume reduces by not over 70%; after that evacuation is ceased and frozen vapors are subjected to infra-red and ultra- violet rays, allowed to thaw, and melt water is collected; prior to exposing frozen vapors to infra-red and ultra-violet rays, active gas is supplied to freezing zone wherein gas pressure of 0 to 3 atm. gage is built up. Unit for implementing this method has vessels for evaporating source water and vessel for collecting melt water, cooling and heating facilities, and chamber built up of two sections; top and bottom ones, to form vacuum chamber communicating with vacuum treatment and active gas supply systems; top section of chamber is provided with lifting mechanism and bottom section accommodates vessel for evaporating source water and vessel for collecting melt water. Vessel for evaporating source water is essentially circular shell accommodating vessel for collecting melt water arranged around base. Source water cooling and heating facility is tubular spiral mounted inside circular shell. Top part of casing mounts radiating unit and device for source water condensing and vapor freezing which is placed above vessels and built up of disk-shaped plates placed one on top of other, their perforated bottoms facing vessels; plates have spaces for passing coolant or heat-carrying agent. Radiation unit has vertically mounted infrared and ultraviolet lamps arranged over periphery of mentioned plates. EFFECT: facilitated procedure, improved design. 4 cl, 1 dwg
