FIELD: construction. SUBSTANCE: excavation of ground by single bucket excavator is exercised with permanent single-directed rotation of bucket around longitudinal axis of handle and with bucket eccentric shift in respect to axis of rotation or at an angle to axis of rotation. Ground layer by layer cutting by bucket is exercised with cutting members extended in direction of rotation beyond side limits of bucket. Apparatus to excavate ground by single bucket excavator has boom with lifting mechanism, handle, in body of which post is located. Mechanism of post feeding is made of two chained pulleys, connected by rack, mounted in guides of body. Mechanism of post rotation is made in the form of worm gear box. Mechanisms of boom lifting and turning are made as rigid link with drive from self-braking worm gear boxes. EFFECT: method and apparatus are used in construction. 2 cl, 5 dwg
