FIELD: production of catalyst. SUBSTANCE: method for production of catalyst for oxidation of carbon monoxide and organic impurities in gas effluents includes mixing of components containing compounds of chromium and copper with aluminium hydroxide with subsequent molding, drying and calcination. In this case, use is made of aluminium hydroxide of pseudoboehmite structure preliminarily treated with acid, capable of forming of aluminum basic water-solution salts at acid modulus of 0.05-0.12. It is mixed with aluminium hydroxide powder. In this case, content of aluminum hydroxide treated with acid in catalyst mass is maintained within 8-25 mas.% in terms of aluminum oxide. Method provides for addition to mixture of aluminum hydroxides, first, of chrome compound, and then, copper compound. Chrome compound is used in form of chrome oxide, and copper compound in form of copper basic carbonate. Catalyst pellets are calcined at 550-750 C. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 4 cl, 1 tbl
