FIELD: microbiology, agriculture. SUBSTANCE: omomycin is prepared from mycelium of streptomycetus - a producer cultured on nutrient medium. Wet mycelium is extracted with acetone, and prepared extract is concentrated up to aqueous residue. From aqueous residue omomycin is isolated by reextraction with petroleum ether or hexane and then with 90% aqueous methanol. Antibiotic yield is 80-85% of its content in mycelium. EFFECT: increased yield of antibiotic.
