FIELD: heat treatment of high-loaded items made of (α) titanium alloys, for example, resilient members. SUBSTANCE: two-stage heat treatment is performed at temperatures that are considerably lower than the temperature of polymorphic transformation (b). The offered heat treatment provides for a cyclic endurance of springs of at least 2·106 cycles which can be explained by absence of a surface gas-saturated layer that is not formed at temperatures within 260 to 280 C (the first ageing stage) and within 500 to 525 C ( the second ageing stage).
