FIELD: transport. SUBSTANCE: differential drive has two differential mechanisms, each made in form of housing accommodating worms installed on shafts kinematically coupled by means of gear train consisting of different diameter spur gears. Different diameter worm gears are in meshing with worms. Housing 7 of first differential mechanism has drive from gearbox shaft 4, smaller diameter worm gear 14 is coupled with one of front wheels of automobile, larger diameter worm gear 15 is connected with intermediate shaft 19. Housing 21 of second differential mechanism is coupled with intermediate shaft 19. Smaller diameter worm gear 31 of second differential mechanism is coupled with other front wheel of automobile; larger diameter worm gear 30 is connected with shaft 34 intended for driving automobile rear wheels. Such design of differential drive provides higher traction characteristics of automobile on roads where wheel-to-road adhesion is poor. EFFECT: enhanced road adhesion. 2 cl, 7 dwg
