FIELD: aluminum metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method for testing composition of electrolyte of aluminum electrolyzer includes probe insertion into melt electrolyte and recording electric signal. The probe is alternatively cooled and heated with cooling down to complete solidifying electrolyte at the probe bound. Probe of aluminum electrolyzer has conducting sonde and reference electrode. The probe has heater, cylinder of insulating ceramics with a hole in its bottom and a packet of rods inserted in the cylinder comprising wiring and ceramic insulation. Reference electrode is made in the form of a vessel installed on cylinder bottom and is partially filled with liquid aluminum and covered with end of a rod. Another wire end serves as sonde. This end is suitable for precipitation a layer of liquid aluminum. The third rod is provided with thermocouple. The heater is made in the form of electrically conducting ceramic covering on side wall of passage. Reference electrode vessel has outer vertical fins and together with covering rod is located in the central part of the cylinder. The rest of the rods are located between said central rod and side cylinder wall. EFFECT: highly effective testing method. 4 cl, 6 dwg
