FIELD: construction. SUBSTANCE: solar illumination device has rotary screen with solar collector and energy baffling member, screen rotating mechanism with drive connected with follower detector. Illumination device is further provided with variable transmission radius member disposed in front of solar collector, mechanism for moving variable transmission radius member along optical axis of solar collector and illumination level sensor positioned in illuminated area. First output of illumination level sensor is connected with follower detector and second output is connected with mechanism for moving variable transmission radius member. Screen is mounted on support. Solar collector is made curved. Variable transmission radius member may be formed as rotating multiple arm sprocket, whose leading and tail parts are aligned on two spirals, with one spiral embracing central zone of solar collector and second spiral being circumscribed within its peripheral zone. Mechanism for moving variable transmission radius member along optical axis of solar collector is kinematically connected with sprocket axle.
