METHOD FOR TREATING HORMONORESISTENT BRONCHIAL ASTHMA Russian patent published in 1995 - IPC

FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: essence of this method resides in exposing pateint's blood to extracorporal monochromatic coherent red radiation (wavelength: 632 nm; low-energy radiation rate: 2 MW/sq. cm) produced by helium-neon laser, treating blood twice with use of expendable blood transfusion system for exfusion and reinfusion, sampling patient's blood from cubital vein in amount of about 2.5 ml per 1 kg of body mass, pouring sample into sterile flask containing 5000 units of heparin, carrying out reinfusion at rate of 60 to 80 drops per minute, performing patient's blood exfusion and reinfusion directly via tube of expendable system integrated into slot system of "Izolda-ALOK" apparatus. Total radiation dose amounts to about 7.0 to 8.0 J/sq. cm. Disclosed method prescribes carrying out at least two procedures in ordinary case and 3 to 5 procedures in case of hormoresistent bronchial asthma, interval between first two being 1 to 2 days and that between following procedures being 3 to 4 days. EFFECT: effective means for treating severe cases of bronchial asthma persistent to medicamentous treatment, recovery of sensitivity to glucocorticoids, and substantial curtailment of glucocorticoid dose or complete cancellation of administration of glucocorticoids in case of hormone independence or hormone resistance. 2 tbl
