DEVICE FOR GUIDING BLIND PERSONS Russian patent published in 1995 - IPC

Abstract RU 2040921 C1

FIELD: medical engineering. SUBSTANCE: device has spectacles, which glasses are made from an optically transparent material and have internal and external parts making a closed inner cavity. Masking coating is applied to the inner surfaces of the external parts of the glasses. Transmitting unit made in the form of microcircuit and transmitting emitter are mounted on the inner surface of the external part of one of the glasses. Receiving unit made in the form of circuit and receiving emitter with a filter connected to its input, the filter being transparent to the working frequency of the radiation, are mounted on the inner surface of the external part of the other glass. The warning signal generation unit being an electric-to- acoustic signal transformer is mounted in the same area. The receiving and transmitting emitters are placed above the windows made in the masking coating with focusing members made in the form of zoned lenses representing Fresnel lens hologram. Threshold unit is connected to output of the receiving unit, reference input of the threshold unit is connected to the transmitting unit output by means of conductor piece passing through an opening in the nasal cross-piece of the spectacles frame. Power supply inputs of the receiving and transmitting units are connected to the power supply unit enclosed into a separate casing to be carried in the pocket. EFFECT: enhanced effectiveness in helping the blind persons to find orientation in the surrounding space. 7 cl, 4 dwg
