METHOD FOR PRODUCTION OF FODDER YEAST OF DISTILLERY GRAINS Russian patent published in 1995 - IPC

FIELD: biotechnology. SUBSTANCE: method involves filtration of distillery grains to produce filtrate and solid fraction (which contains coarse particles of spent grains) and preparing of culture medium. The latter process is carried out by adding of mineral salts into filtrate and by cultivating yeast. Yeast suspension is separated to prepare biomass of yeast and culture liquid, biomass being concentrated and thus prepared concentrate is dried. Before preparing of culture medium filtrate of distillery grains is additionally filtered to separate fine particles of spent grains. Solid fraction containing coarse particles of spent grain is extracted and hydrolyzed simultaneously to remove nutriments of spent grains. The process is carried out with the help of portion of concentrate, thus prepared mass is separated into solution and solid part. Solution is mixed with origin distillery grains.
