FIELD: production of graphitized materials. SUBSTANCE: catalyst has the following components, wt. -% NiO 70-90; CuO 2-16; Al(OH)3 or Mg(OH)2 8-14. Method of catalyst preparing involves mechanochemical activation of nickel and copper oxides double mixture and then - triple mixture of nickel and copper mixture with aluminium or magnesium hydroxide in planetary centrifugal mill followed by reduction of mixture with hydrogen at heating up to methane decomposition reaction temperature. Process of preparing ferromagnetic graphitized material and hydrogen is carried out at 560-650 C in the presence of catalyst indicated above at the time contact with catalyst 3·10 - 2·10 с..
