FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to preparation of catalysts used in chemical industry for producing isopropyl alcohol by hydrogenating acetone with hydrogen. Disclosed is a method of preparing a catalyst for producing isopropyl alcohol during liquid-phase hydrogenation of acetone. Catalyst includes mixed oxides of Ni or Cu, as well as aluminate Mg or Ca, or Sr, or Ba, or Zn. Mechanochemical or microwave activation of initial individual salts, hydroxides or oxides of said metals and/or mixture thereof is carried out, then, hydrothermal treatment is performed to produce precursors - layered mixed hydroxides with hydrotalcite structure or their mixture with individual hydroxides/oxides. Obtained catalyst precursor is calcined and activated. Method of producing isopropyl alcohol is carried out at temperature of 70–120 °C, pressure 2.0–5.0 MPa, volumetric rate 1.0–2.0 g acetone/(g catalyst h), molar ratio H2:Acetone 1.05:1–2:1.
EFFECT: technical result is obtaining an efficient multi-component catalyst for hydrogenation of acetone in isopropyl alcohol with content of active metal Ni or Cu up to 40 wt% based on complex oxides.
