FIELD: measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: gradiometer has case incorporating two electromagnetic shields mounted one inside other, and superconducting material body placed inside internal shield for fine axial bending as mass quadrupole about axis crossing center of mass of mentioned body. Array of superconducting solenoids is supported by external shield and placed in direct proximity of mentioned body to apply diamagnetically rotational force to body relative to axis of bending and/or to respond by inductance modulation to axial bending of body set up due to gravity gradient through body. Array is adapted to application of rotational force in either direction of rotation and to response to bending in either direction of rotation. Flexible axial support has two members with opposite surfaces mounted in a spaced relation to each other. These surfaces are joined through strap of microscopic thickness in plane crossing these surfaces. Members and strap are solid masses of homogeneous material; members are suited to axial clamping bending about axis oriented along mentioned strap. EFFECT: improved design. 9 cl, 9 dwg
