FIELD: ferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: backup roll, having at least two cone slopes, has a transition of its outer cone slope to its inner cone slope on a surface of a barrel; that transition is arranged outside of a range of a working zone of the roll. An angle of inclination of the inner slope relative to an axis of the roll is determined according to a formula α=arctg(0,2/lc)= arctg(0.2/1), where lc= a total length of cone slopes. EFFECT: enhanced quality of rolled sheets with use of such backup rolls. 1 cl, 1 dwg
