FIELD: powder metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: stream of melted metal, pouring out of pipe 6 of apparatus for metal powder production from smelt, interacts with three as much as possible rotated streams of compressed air, coming out of uniformly located holes 11, 12 and 13 of conical pieces 8 and 9 and air stream swirl cone 10, in which the air is fed from source of compressed air through tangentially located in side surface of cylindrical body hole 4. Compressed air stream, having entered cavity 2 through hole 4, is divided for two streams, one of which, moving tangentially to outer surface of cylindrical dividing member 14, is going to holes 17 of swirl cone 15; another stream, changing its initial direction, also comes to holes 17 uniformly located at angle of 30 deg. to axis of the pipe. Twice swirled stream comes to holes 12 and 13 of conical members 8 and 9. The stream of melted metal is scattered by three stream of compressed air due to three steps of preliminary swirling, forming small dispersed drops, that after cooling become metal powder.
