METHOD TO EXTRACT MANGANESE FROM MANGANESE-CONTAINING ORE Russian patent published in 1995 - IPC

Abstract RU 2044088 C1

FIELD: manganese extraction with the help of carbon reducer and smelting in metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: manganese raw material is mixed wit carbon reducer. charge is briquetted and smelting is exercised. Manganese-containing raw material before mixing is comminuted to get particles of average size in accordance with given formula. Before mixing manganese raw material is additionally comminuted to particles with average size of no more than 150 mm and add to it comminuted material, based on Potassium oxide in amount, that provides ratio of CaO SiO2 10 1.5 and mix them. Produced mixture is subjected to annealing under temperature of 850 1050 C with following cooling without air access till temperature of below 100 C. In case they produce briquets of coaxial form with flat or ribbed surface, then briquets sinking into smelt is exercised with adjusting of their sinking depth according to given formula. EFFECT: increased efficiency.
