FIELD: fatigue tests of materials; determination of material longevity under conditions of short-cycle loading. SUBSTANCE: ultimate strength σtemp of material is determined on analog specimen, the latter is tested for sinusoidal loading, amplitude and frequency of sinusoidal load is taken on the basis of parameters of predetermined cyclic processes; test data are used to determine total pulse characteristics Σ Ft= ΔFt·N, where ΔFt is sine wave area in the range of voltages from 0.5σtemp to σ max. N is number of cycles till specimen failure; material longevity is determined from equation Σ Ft= Σ Fp, where Σ Fp is total pulse characteristic of predetermined process in the region of stretching stresses exceeding 0,5σtemp. EFFECT: simplified assessment at predetermined stationary processes with arbitrary cycles and at predetermined transient processes. 4 dwg, 1 tbl
