AMPLIFIER WITH INJECTION TRAPPING Russian patent published in 1995 - IPC

Abstract RU 2045115 C1

FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: amplifier with injection trapping has N x M active elements placed so that their optical axes form two-dimensional rectangular array with N x M dimensionality with spacing d1 and d2 along array axes. Additional mirror 39 is placed on side of rear rotary mirror produced in the form of plane-parallel plate from material transparent to radiation which outer side is dummy mirror and thickness h2 is determined by expression h2= d2(n22

-sin2β)1/2/sin2β, where β is angle between optical axes of active elements and normal to additional mirror-plate; n2 is refractive index of material of plate on length on generation wave; d2 is distance between optical axes of active elements along axis of array of active elements and reflection factors r1 and r2 of faces of output mirror and of internal face of additional mirror-plate r3 are related by expression r1(1-r23
)(1-r2)2 = r2r3, where r1 is refractive index of outer surface of output mirror; r2 is refractive index of inner surface of output mirror; r3 is refractive index of inner surface of rotary mirror. Two rear rotary mirrors and two front rotary mirrors are so arranged that their planes are perpendicular in pairs to each other and line crossing their planes makes angle β with plane of additional mirror 39. Thickness of mirror-plate is chosen so that radiation circulating in active ring of amplifier reflected from two faces of this mirror hits both active elements making ring along ray path and adjacent active ring. As a result of this injection trapping occurs in all active elements of amplifier and the whole of amplifier will operate under coherent mode on frequency of master oscillator 42. In this case divergence of output radiation is determined by common aperture of amplifier and if certain condition is met output beams will have same amplitude and consequently contrast of interference picture in far zone will be maximum. EFFECT: formation of powerful coherent single-frequency radiation with wide range of re-tuning of generation frequency. 4 dwg
