SUBSTANCE: laser has input and output polarizers that pass horizontally polarized radiation, active elements inserted between polarizers, and off-resonator optical system that functions to enlarge beam sectional area, turns polarization plane through 90 deg., and applies beam to active element through input polarizer. Optoelectric element is placed between input polarizer and partially transparent mirror; inserted between output polarizer and blind mirror are two wedges having top angle arcctg n, and arranged so that faces closest to blind mirror and optical axis of resonator constitute Brewster angle; for distant faces, resonator axis is normal; one of wedges covers greatest part of active element sectional area; off-resonator optical system has wedge components and revolving mirror which enlarge beam sectional area in horizontal plane by Dd-1 times; optical system also has quarter-wave phase strip, adjustable lens built around telescope, amplifying active element, and nonlinear elements, where n is refractive index of wedge material, D is horizontal sectional area of active element, and d is distance from wedge top to resonator optical axis. EFFECT: improved efficiency and reliability of laser when operating under pulse-periodic conditions with radiation-frequency conversion to higher harmonics. 1 dwg
