HIGH-POWER WAVEGUIDE GAS LASER Russian patent published in 1996 - IPC

Abstract RU 2062541 C1

FIELD: quantum electronics; multiple- beam gas lasers. SUBSTANCE: laser has single- or multi-channel master oscillator, oscillator-radiation-to-amplifier-input matching unit. Amplifier is built up of parallel banks of waveguide tubes, n tubes per bank, forming periodic grating in bank and of set of segmented mirrors affording sequential irradiation of all amplifier banks. Amplifier output window placed at Brewster angle to radiation is assembly of plate transparent for radiation and two cooled metal plates with holes following geometry of tube arrangement in bank. Laser is provided, in addition, with directivity pattern construction unit which is, essentially, telescopic set of spherical mirrors with predetermined surface profile determined by type of oscillator used. For single-channel oscillator or multichannel one with synchronizing unit, profile depth is determined by equation given in description of invention. Single-channel-oscillator-to-multichannel-amplifier matching unit has telescopic set of mirrors, but master oscillator radiated beams in each of multichannel oscillator channels, telescopic set is placed in area of convergence of apertures of separate radiated beams and surface profile determines set of microlenses whose diameter and curvature radius are determined by equations given in description of invention.
