METHOD FOR PREPARATION OF BITUMEN-POLYMER COMPOSITION Russian patent published in 1995 - IPC

FIELD: road-building and insulating materials. SUBSTANCE: method for preparation of bitumen-polymer composition consists in melting of bitumen components at 60-180 C and formation of granules encased in shells of thermoplastic polymer. Prior to use, granules are melted and mixed at 160-200 C. Bitumen component with temperature 60-180 C is supplied by gravity or at pressure into polymer shell which forms moving sleeve and is granulated. Also bitumen component at temperature of 60-100 C, first, is granulated and then, applied to granules in polymer melt, and cooled in water or air. Used as bitumen component is bitumen, mixture of bitumen with thermoplastic polymer or with its wastes in the amount of 1-15% of mass of bitumen composition, and also bitumen-polymer, bitumen-asbestos, rubber-bitumen mastics. Besides, granule shell is made of same polymer used in bitumen component. Method provides for convenience in storage and transportation of composition, and also its protection from moistening and contamination. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 7 cl
