FIELD: light industry. SUBSTANCE: shock-absorbing device is a thin plate to size with the heel. The plate is fabricated from multilayer material consisting of thermoplastic resin and cloth (carbon and fiber glass). The device has two side edges bent upward and a springy member integral with the plate. The spring member is directed backward, and it is tilted upward to work in the vertical direction. The device is placed inside resilient material of the heel part of the middle sole layer of the shoe so that the springy member is positioned under the big foot bone. The middle sole layer is weaker in the zone below the springy member so that the latter is free to deflect down under the effect of the force exerted by the heel of the sportsman. The middle sole layer may have an insert for limiting the maximum downward deflection of the springy member. EFFECT: higher shock- absorbing ability of footwear. 20 cl, 5 dwg
