FIELD: coal mining. SUBSTANCE: method provides for determination of cracks location in mountain mass, stage by stage and interval by interval drilling and sealing of boreholes along axis of working and perpendicularly to cracks with deviation of azimuth of the latter from normal to axis of working by no more than ± 15°. The new thing is, that they determine location of system of steeply dipping cleavage cracks. Drilling of borehole on each stage is exercised at interval of mountain mass of mountain rocks, that is multiple to distance between neighboring systems of cleavage cracks. The distance is measured from crack nearest to working. Water pumping-in till face squeezing off is exercised on first stage. On following stages water is pumped in till pressure begins to drop. EFFECT: method helps to increase safety during mine preliminary workings driving.
