FIELD: decontamination of radioactive and miscellaneous toxic industrial wastes by burying them in mine workings; construction of underground burial grounds and oil product storages. SUBSTANCE: cavity is made in the region of high rock pressure built up by pillar or end part of rock bed (or commercial mineral). This region of high rock pressure is used as isolating barrier. Stress and strain state of rock is estimated in this region and areas with compact enclosing-rock state are detected. Wastes are conveyed to these areas and state of high rock pressure region is continuously monitored. Reinforcing measures are taken, if necessary. EFFECT: improved reliability of long-time storage due to organizing leak-tight strained regions in rock. 6 cl, 7 dwg
