FIELD: hydroacoustics. SUBSTANCE: method involves reception of acoustic signal in water by means of immovable hydroacoustic antenna, conversion of acoustic signal to electric oscillations, amplification and filtration of these oscillations, generation of N directions of three-dimensional filtration in scanning pattern. Each direction are displaced with respect to each other by given angle. In addition signals that are received in direction of three- dimensional filtration are averaged by time. Then, direction towards target is determined. Along each direction of three- dimensional filtration the oscillations after their amplification and frequency filtration are converted to power spectrum which are composed for each pair of adjacent directions of filtration and determine direction to remote signal source. Device that implements said method is described in additional item of invention specification. EFFECT: increased functional capabilities. 2 cl, 2 dwg
