METHOD FOR MEASURING INHERENT UNDERWATER NOISE EMISSION AND A NOISE METER Russian patent published in 2007 - IPC G10K11/00

Abstract SU 1840603 A1

FIELD: hydro-acoustics, possible use during hydro-acoustic measurements of underwater noise emission.

SUBSTANCE: method includes taking in a mixture of underwater noise emission and interferences with enabled and disabled emitter in accordance to directional characteristic of flexible extended towed antenna, oriented to its ship. Also, interferences are received in accordance to directional characteristic of flexible extended towed antenna turned away from its ship. Compensation of interferences is realized by energy subtraction of interferences from mixture of underwater noise emission signal and interferences. Further, energy spectrum of noise emission, modified for elementary distance, is determined. Also, noise is additionally received by means of route of auxiliary receiver, positioned at distance reservoir from emitter on a submarine, on which before enabling the artificial emission, energy spectrum of acoustic and electric interferences is measured, mutual energy spectrum is selected between noise signals at the output of flexible extended towed antenna and auxiliary receiver, and also energy spectrum at output of auxiliary receiver. Transfer function of environment is determined. Phase part of mutual energy spectrum is determined. Distance between phase center of flexible extended towed antenna, and acoustic center of underground noise emission of submarine, are determined. Flexible extended towed antenna is displaced along a straight line passing through the center of flexible extended towed antenna. Energy spectrum of noise emission is determined for distance between acoustic center of underwater emission of submarine and phase center of flexible extended towed antenna by moving flexible extended towed antenna closer to submarine. With enabled auxiliary emitter, energy spectrum of signal from underwater ship emission is recorded at output of flexible extended towed antenna, clean of constant component of interferences. Energy spectrum of underwater noise emission of submarine, modified for elementary distance, is determined with consideration of transfer function.

EFFECT: increased trustworthiness, less time needed for calibration.
