FIELD: geodetic instrumentation engineering. SUBSTANCE: polarimetric system includes laser transmitter and photodetector with polarization analyzer mounted on one vertical. Phase modulator of laser radiation is inserted into transmitter in addition and system is supplemented with second photodetector with polarization analyzer turned with plane of greatest passing through 45 deg relative to plane of greatest passing of first analyzer. Angle of turn of photodetector with reference to transmitter is found with the help of relationship α = 0,5 arctg U1/U2·k, where k is ratio of passing-through and reflection factors of light splitter, U1/U2 is ratio of signals of first and second photodetectors and sign of angle is found by difference of phases of signals of first and second photodetectors.
