FIELD: ferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: furnace has graphitized arch electrode arranged in arch at shift relative to furnace vertical axis and hearth electrode mounted in hearth. Current conductors of electrodes are brought out to one side passing through vertical axis of furnace of central plane. Graphitized arch electrode is shifted relative it towards current conductors which are located inside central solid angle α1 through which axis of graphitized arch electrode runs. Provided on wall of casing and/or furnace arch on side opposite to current conductor is cooled panel which is located in central solid angle α2 whose plane of symmetry is matched with plane of symmetry of angle α1. Inequality α1≅ α2≅ 180° may be satisfied. Cooled panel may be detachable and sectional. EFFECT: enhanced reliability. 6 cl, 2 dwg
