FIELD: gas scrubbing. SUBSTANCE: gas-air mixture containing hydrogen sulfide is passed through the carbonyl-containing hemosorption fiber made on the basis of hydrazidized polyacrylonitrile which contains transient metal sulfides: Mn, Co, Cu, Fe and others. Method ensures to trap up to 1000-1500 mg/g fiber at 10 vol. hydrogen sulfide in gas. Protection time at 1-3 vol. hydrogen sulfide and current rate 3-10 l/hr at 100% scrubbing degree is 50-60 hr that exceeds known ones by ten-folds. High efficacy of absorber is attained by catalytic oxidation of hydrogen sulfide to sulfur on the sulfide-containing hemosorption fiber at temperature range from +10 to +80 C. EFFECT: improved method of gas scrubbing.
